The guitarist Takumi is hosting a series of extensive talks about composing and recording music called “TakuTaku Talk.” This month’s guest appearance is guitarist Hiroto from the popular Alice Nine, a band that fuses dance music and post rock sounds. From topics such as what triggered his start of playing guitar to his obsession with creating music, this interview between two guitar-lovers is a must read!
Takumi: Hiroto and I got along pretty well in the past, didn’t we?
Hiroto: About 4-5 years ago, Takumi-san went to Sugizo-san’s live to ask for his support. Afterwards Takumi called out to me, “Hey I’m eating dinner with Sugizo-san, want to join?”
Takumi: That’s right! That dinner turned into a guitarist meeting.
Hiroto: After I started playing guitar, Sugizo-san represented all that I aspired to be, so I was thrilled to meet him. Even now, I still can’t believe that I got the chance to drink with him. [laugh]
Takumi: At any rate, you seem to really love playing the guitar. Even on Twitter (@alice9_hiroto), you’re constantly tweeting about guitars and effects.
Hiroto: But it wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I realized, “Ah, I actually love the guitar.”
Takumi: I see. Did something trigger that?
Hiroto: It was a guitarist meeting. Seeing all the guitarists’ extraordinary burning love for the guitar, I thought
“Fuck, I want to play the guitar! I must play!!” [laugh]
